I purchased this cello with a hope that I don't have to rent it. Appearance looked OK except ugly repair patch in front at wood knot. The reason I returned was it did not hold a tune even a few minutes. Stay away from this brand cello. You don't want to tune in middle of performaces/lessons. Since my one is using 3/4 size, I will keep renting. But for 4/4 size, I will go to reputable place and buy as an investment. It seemed to be the wood near peg is not hard enough to hold ebony peg. In short, this cello has a problem in quality as well as appeareance. STAY AWAY!!

Similar to other reviewers I would suggest replacing the strings, shaving down the nut, and even fitting a new tail piece. I have had the cello for a year now and it's served me, an adult beginner, very well. The case is rather cheap and falls apart but the cello itself has held up well.

Overall, I am pleased with my new cello, because it came with strings, end pin protector, cello rosin, cello cover, and French bow. I was surprised I did not find any packaged extra strings. I was also surprised to see that some hair came out from the bow very easily, which almost led me to believe that this bow needed re-hairing. It seems that this instrument can produce a good resonating forward sound, which at times have to control by backing the note dynamics off. I was not able to find a logo indicating where this cello was originally made at. The bridge was slightly too high. Because my original plan was to use the instrument in my church only and not professionally, this full-size instrument works very well with me. Thank you!

These Cello's are CRAP! I bought one and the bridge was slightly warp and the pegs wouldn't stay in and hold a tune no matter how much putty was added. If one is given as a gift, make sure to give it within the 30 days, because if you don't they wont take it back, no matter what even if it's their fault! Other than that it was delivered on time!

I am an adult learning the cello. I would be considered an intermediate to advanced beginner.

Position Pieces is an outstanding way to learn the positions on the cello. Some of the tunes are somewhat juvenile, but they have all challenged me.

The book also incorporates other techniques in the pieces, so it's more than just shifting. My instructor and I have enjoyed working through this book.

It would be very difficult to do if you are trying to teach yourself.
