Biola is one of the most beautiful instruments anyone can own or play. Little history behind the violin, viola string instrument with four strings bend in the fifth set properly. This is the smallest and highest pitched member of the violin family of string instruments, which also includes the viola and cello. Violin is sometimes referred to as a "fiddle." I just got this instrument about 20 minutes before the UPS was going to close which was nice but anyways, just utterly fabulous instrument, what you get is all you need. No need for super sensitive strings or anything and the bow is more than good enough for this packaged price. I took the instrument out and UNLIKE OTHERS used my brain and wondered why would they not set the bridge? hmmm MAYBE TO PREVENT DAMAGE TO THE AMAZING INSTRUMENT. So i set the bridge pretty easily with help from my mom since i didn't feel comfortable tightening the strings on the finger board and just slipped the bridge in the center the the f-holes, you'll notice little notches in the center on the f-holes and just put the bridge their but remember to place it a bit closer to the soundpost which is on the left side of the instrument and also tilt the bridge a bit backwards so when you tighten the strings it doesn't bend the bridge. So then i rosined the bow for about 20 minutes and tried the instrument. Pure bliss, beautiful sound but i did have a problem, which was my own fault. Before tuning the strings, if you feel that its a little harder than it should be go to the tailpiece and check where the end the of string is. You'll see a little cylinder that holds the string in place, make sure its not in some sort of funny angle, make sure its nice and even and flat because I broke a string like that, thank amazon for the amazing deal that comes with a NEW SET OF STRINGS. So yea over all great, and I will be reporting back once I go to my teacher and see if he approves of the instrument he's very very good and well known so if he approves of it any teacher will. Oh and sorry Amazon for the 4 out 5, I gave that because I kinda disliked the Cecilio logo/name on the back on the instrument, unappealing :P but in general great.

I was looking for a travel cello case,something that would protect my cello from the airline baggage people's rough handling and this case looked and is very reliable since I've heard the fiberglass ones can crack if handled roughly. This case is very suitable and does protect my cello the way i expected it to. Even looking at the picture it looks sturdier and a more durable material then it actually is. I expected the outside of it to be some sort of cemetric like material on the outside but it is plastic, but it is still a good case. but it is military grade and it durable. but also lighter then i thought it would be.

If you answered "yes" to both of these, your knowledge of the cello is already too advanced to gain anything from this DVD. There is almost nothing of substance in this "lesson", and the tiny amount of actual information present is repeated endlessly over a period of thirty minutes. I'm not sure if she (Or he? I'm actually a little confused about that) is used to teaching very small children or the mentally handicapped, but for any person of even moderate intelligence this lesson moves at a maddeningly slow pace.

I started learning to play the cello at the age of 40. I came into it knowing *nothing* about music or musical instrumets. I knew how to listen to music, but couldn't play it, read it, or make it, and I was completely unfamiliar with the various parts of a cello.

While obviously written for children (my favorite line: page 4 "Wait quietly for your teacher to tune your instrument"), this book is perfect for beginning adult students as well. I learned to identify the parts of the instrument, how to hold it while playing, fingering techniques, and how to properly hold and use the bow (more challenging than it looks). The book does a very good job of introducing the "language" of music to those who have no previous experience with time signatures, clef signs, key signatures, eighth notes and half notes, half steps and whole steps, etc. And if you couldn't sight read music before, you certainly will get it while working with this book.

If you already have some musical training, this book may very well be too basic for you. If you are like me, an *absolute* beginner, I recommend this book with enthusiasm. As some wise person once said, it's okay to begin at the beginning. This book is the perfect companion as you start your musical journey!

I tried another book, and being self-taught, this is the one to go with. The DVD/CD accompaniments really help you learn to play with others, even if you're the only one there. I am also buying books 2 & 3 of the series because book 1 turned out to be so much help. I'm able to progress much more rapidly than I thought possible.

I really like this cello. I have wanted one for many years since I played the school loaned cello in high school. I was amazed at how much my skill has improved over the past 30 years from having NOT played! I psychologically understand it more, see the mathematical ratios of the strings and intervals, and the whole thing makes much more logical sense to me now. The case is of superior quality and the real horse hair bow is full, well-balanced, and produces a nice tone. The instrument also included fine tuning keys which help to get the strings exactly in tune. If I cared more, I'd probably replace at least the A string because it is initially strident. The craftsmanship of the instrument itself is flawless as far as I can tell, and the color of the wood is rich and warm. I am not disappointed in the least with this very well-priced cello.

I am an adult beginner and I am using this book. So far it has been wonderful and easy to learn compared to some of the other bigger, complicated books that I bought at the same time. Luckily, I have a great teacher who helps me with technique- where the book lacks. But I guess all music books lack in that because they can't see what you are doing right or wrong.

I have been playing cello for almost 7 years and I think that this is the best cello book there is, 10 full books of great songs. I am currently on book 7 and it is very hard, but I still like it. The only bad thing that I have ever found is that the books are somewhat flimsy and fall apart easily by the time you have finished it (it takes me about a year a book).

I recently purchased my Palatino Allegro cello and I am very happy.

When it arrived it was well packaged, and looked great. Of course I had to set up the bridge because it's not shipped with it in place (this is the safest way to ship it).

The original strings were the first things I removed- they sounded HORRIBLE! I purchased D'addagio student strings and it made a huge difference.
The tone only improves at this point as the strings seem to stretch, and the has cello acclimated.
The sound is warm and rich tone, especially for the price.

Upper and middle register sound very good- warm, and resonant.

The only issue with the cellos sound is it's lowest notes...it's bass resonance isn't the clearest or fullest, but that could also be my own bowing/technique.

Very good quality cello overall- great sound- and perfect for beginners. It doesn't sound cheap at all..it doesn't sound expensive either but the sound is good quality.

The only things I didn't like where original strings and the bow. The bow is pretty cheap and I plan on investing in a more expensive one down the line.

Being a "mature" cello student, I needed studies that would help me to visualize where I am on the cello. Though the pieces in this book are not particularly challenging, they are exactly what I need to familiarize myself with the different positions. The pieces switch back and forth from "home" (first) position to the one you are practicing, giving a valuable study in shifting to the new position. The written exercises at the beginning of each change in position are a help to establish finger spacing before starting out. I have been pleased with all the books by Rick Mooney that I have purchased (Thumb Position 1 & 2, Double Stops 1 and Position Pieces for Cello 1). Good study for any beginning student learning the different positions on the cello.

This should be called ultimate idiot series. This dvd is not even 30 minutes long and just barely teaches anything except how to hold the cello and a very simple exercise. Then its all over. There should have been more exercises and examples for the price. Its not worth more than 5 dollars for the info. it contains.

Card making is a hobby that I really enjoy and I took along a few tips that may be useful for other fellow crafters.

The most important of all is do not ever throw anything, save paper and card cut off, as this can be useful to make a card in the future and save your money at the same time.

The best place to store all your cutting in a craft that will grow in size more than once you have made a few cards. This is also entitled to be keptopen your eyes to view the magazine and later cut the tape that can be used to complete the card.

Setting out a press so that they are ready for use when you need to make the card, it is worth investing in a small container used to store and label them so you can see what is inside.

Once you make the card is a good idea to keep them in cello bags, this will protect the card from dirt and debris keep it clean finishedsent. Pocket cello is also useful if you decide to sell your cards.

Setting the device to halt and prepare them to become damaged, such as rubber stamps will deteriorate if left in the sun at all and should be kept in place or menggambar keep images clear and sharp.

If you have to buy ink bantalan which their father's shop ink side down, this will make all the ink pad is expected to surface until the ink is always ready to use and you can get the maximum fromwas.

If you have large numbers of dead skin, you may find that although not see all that was easier to just nip out and buy another to fit your project. This of course will end up setting the cost of money you would have spent if your skin is set offs and labeled properly in the place of your craft

Keep scissors, knives and knife trimmer setajam You can also nothing worse than rough paper edges, so you remember to sharpen scissorsand replace the scalpel and knife trimmer you as often as possible.

It's always best to keep your scrap sheets of paper flat. This will ensure that the ends do not become damaged or untangled and will continue to search for papers like new.

Card making is a fun hobby that can be enjoyed by anyone but it is important to stay organized, if your card stock into the field of mind from the problems of paper you may find you do not want to go back there.

Out of the box this cellow was unpleasant sounding. Took it to a luthier, he did the following:
1- Shaved the knot
2- Adjusted sound post
3- Moved the tail piece 1" down and removed 3 fine tuners (C, G, and D)
4- Replaced the strings with Helicores
The results were amazing. It sounds good now. It is mellow with a hint of spark. It cost about $110 extra and it was all worth it. The final cost was around $560 which is a good price considering the nice bow, stand, and the extra hard case.

What a gorgeous cello! Nice "practice" cello---but it immediately needed new strings, and the pegs won't hold. We're still working on it and after new strings plus some peg dope (thank you Sharmusic.com), the pegs still won't hold the tuned strings. Once we get that settled, tho, it ought to play very nicely.

I purchased this cello online and was satisfied with the sound, although it was not above average. The quality the instrument and the bow was very low and obviously cheaply made. The cello body cracked in 3 places before it was more than 4 months old. The bow fell apart in about 2 months; and I was advised by a local string repair agency that is was not worth re-hairing. I had a difficulty time getting a hold of the maker for reimbursement. I still have not received payment.

When i first heard about the book I was a bit skeptical due to the fact there are many books that say they will help you how to read music. I feel that the main purpose of the book is to teach how to sight read, which is also good but it takes a lot of effort to do so. The good thing about the book is that it includes the grand scale and it gives tiny illustrations on which string the note is located. I mainly use the book to practice as warm ups and it has improved my reading drastically. But I feel I made a good purchase I recommend this book to anyone who wants to learn how to sight read as well as to learn how to read music.
